As per Section 14-b & 14-c of the Constitution of A.S.I., the election for the post of President held every year and Governing Council Members held every 3 years by secret postal ballots. As per the section 15-b of the constitution of ASI, vacancies occurring in the first year of the term of Governing council member will be filled by election from the same state chapter by secrete postal ballots as per the time schedule in section 14-a of the constitution of ASI.

Election for the post of President 2012 and two vacancies of Governing Council Members from Gujarat State Chapter 2011-2012 will be held this year. All the eligible members of A.S.I those who are not in arrears of subscription up to 31-05-2010 are eligible to stand for Election and vote. The new members approved by GC held in May 2010 shall be eligible to vote. The election schedule is as follows:

Nominations for the post of President for the year 2012 and two vacancies of Governing Council Members from Gujarat State Chapter 2011 to 2012 are hereby invited so as to reach the Election Officer, The Association of Surgeons of India, No:21, Swami Sivananda Salai, Chepauk, Chennai-600 005 on or before 5.30 p.m on 31-07-2010.

Last date of withdrawal of nominations for the above election is 31st August 2010 till 5.30 p.m.
Nomination for the post of President of the Association for 2012 shall be from Full Members of not less than 10 Years of good standing in the A.S.I with no arrears of Subscription as on 31-05-2010.

Nomination for the two posts of Governing Council Members from Gujarat State chapter 2011- 2012 shall be from Full Members of not less than 5 years of good standing in the ASI with no arrears of subscription as on 31-05-2010.

Members who are in arrears of subscription as on 31-05-2010 are not entitled to contest, propose, second and vote in the election. The nomination forms for the Election of President 2012 and Governing Council Members from Gujarat State Chapter-2011-2012 are enclosed.

A BRIEF AND CORRECT BIO-DATA NOT EXCEEDING 30LINES FOR THE PRESIDENT- 2012 AND 10 LINES FOR TWO POSTS OF GOVERNING COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM GUJARAT STATE CHAPTER 2011-2012 SIGNED BY THE CANDIDATE MUST BE SENT ALONG WITH THE NOMINATION (PAPER A-4, TYPE SIZE 10 POINT). FAILURE TO SEND THE BIO-DATA AS PRESCRIBED AND WITHOUT SIGNATURE OF THE CANDIDATES WILL ENTAIL REJECTION. EVEN THOSE WHO WERE CANDIDATES LAST YEAR ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THEIR BIODATA AFRESH.

PROPOSER AND SECONDER OF NOMINATION SHOULD BE FULL MEMBERS OF A.S.I WITH NO ARREARS OF SUBSCRIPTION AS ON 31-05-2010.

A Demand Draft for Rs.10000/-(Rupees Ten thousand only) for the post of President and Rs.5000/-( Rupees Five thousand only) for the post of Governing Council Members in favour of “The Association of Surgeons of India” payable at Chennai along with each nomination should be sent as a Non-Refundable Deposit.

Note : Any complaint arising out of election process, first must be addressed to Election Tribunal of the Association. Any legal complaints or complaints arising there after, can only be filed in Chennai Civil Court's jurisdictions.
